Born and raised in Qatar, Sheikha Al-Hardan studied Graphic Design at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar. Her photographic interest started as a child, when she began exploring street photography while travelling. She developed her practice further during university, driving around Qatar's neighbourhoods to capture spontaneous moments and hidden aspects of people's lives.
The visual character of Shaikha's photographs stems from the nature of the light when they were taken. "As I sought to explore Doha through my lens," she writes, "I found myself in awe when I realized that a place would be transformed depending on the time of day. The majority of my images are captured during sunrise or sunset, because to me that gives the image more life and emotion".
