Beyond the Wall
Indonesian photographer Heriadi Joewono has been in Qatar for ten years, working as an architect on Qatar Petroleum projects. He specializes in street and urban documentary photography. He has received marks of excellence in a number of international photography competitions, including the Leica Fotografie International.
In Beyond the Wall Heriadi juxtaposes two simple but contrasting scenes, divided by a common structure. The work provokes questions about the inequalities resulting from spatial division, the adjacency of contrasting realities, and the need to investigate beyond visible boundaries.
