Lumière de ma vie
Maryam Al-Khulaifi combines her photography with a passion for poetry, aspiring to become a documentarian of her country and culture through words and images. She is a graduate in Education of Qatar University.
In her series Lumière de ma vie (Light of my Life), Maryam conveys the contemporary significance of the mobile phone today. In Qatar i particular, mobiles are a vital connection between overseas workers and their distant families, from whom they can be separated for long periods. In Maryam's conception of the project, the strong contrast of sun and shadows mirrors the light that the phones bring to people's daily lives.
