Connecting Cultures 1-3; Horseback Archer and Stormy Sky; On Guard; With Falcon
Maria Ovsyannikova was born and educated in Russia. She has been living in Qatar for six years, working as an architectural, landscape and food photographer. She is also involved in supporting disability awareness through photography.
In their staging, Maria's landscapes of Qatar have strong cinematic qualities and also recall the romantic vision of Orientalist painting. Her recent work is inspired by the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture, for which she is a cultural ambassador, aiming to finding ways of connecting the Gulf to the heritage of the country of her birth.
